FAQ
Getting started
Do we need to redraw our map?
No. Just upload your current guide map file. The map is not modified; the blue dot sits right on top of it.
Which languages can we choose? What if a translation isn't right?
You can choose from 12 languages: Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, French, German and Spanish. Each park picks up to 10, in any order, and the first one is the default language. Spot names, descriptions and opening hours are translated automatically into the languages you pick. Automatic translation will not always read the way you would write it, so you can edit the text in any language directly in the dashboard.
Do we need to change our website or our map?
No. Your guide map stays exactly as it is, and the phone map runs on its own page, so there is nothing to install or maintain. You can link to it from your website if you want.
Can we test it on site before we pay?
Yes. Open your demo link on a phone in the regular browser and allow location. Stand outdoors with a clear view of the sky for the first few seconds, then walk to a few spots your staff know well and check the dot against your guide map.
How long does it take to go live?
There is no setup period. On your demo page, click Claim this map, choose your page's web address and pay. The page is live right away, and you download the final QR sign from your dashboard.
Visitors
Do visitors need to download an app?
No. They scan the QR code and it opens in their phone browser.
Do you collect visitors' personal data or location?
No. Location is computed only on the visitor's own phone. We only learn whether they're inside the park, never where they are. Beyond that, we count anonymous opens, spot taps, map interactions, language and how the map was opened.
How do visitors find it?
Put the printed QR sign at the entrance or next to your printed guide map, or share the link on your website, ticket emails or social posts.
Accuracy & calibration
Does every guide map work?
Not always. When we receive your guide map, we first check whether it can be located accurately. These usually cannot be done, or the position would be too far off:
- Maps not drawn to real positions, such as facilities laid out as a list, cards or a mind map.
- Illustrations with heavily distorted scale, such as greatly compressed distances, or areas drawn at very different scales on the same map.
- Too few landmarks to match, such as large forests or lawns with no junctions, buildings or bridges to use as reference points.
- Images too small or too blurry to see paths and landmarks clearly.
- Places where location is relied on for safety, such as hiking trails.
If you have a version with more accurate scale, such as a site plan, or a higher-resolution original file, please send it too and we can work from that instead. If the map is not a good fit, we will tell you directly.
What if our guide map changes?
Your plan includes two free map updates per quarter: send us the new guide map and we realign the coordinates and spots. If the new map has exactly the same legend and resolution as the old one, it does not count toward the two.
How accurate is the location?
It uses the phone's GPS. Outdoors in open areas, it is usually within a few meters, and the circle on the map shows the current accuracy. GPS is for reference only and is not suitable for emergency rescue.
What if the dot is off in some places?
Your staff can correct it on site with a private staff calibration link, even before you pay: stand at a spot, wait about 15 seconds, drag the orange dot to where you really are, and tap Send. Visitors see the fix on reload, other areas are not affected, and any mark can be undone. Your guide map is never redrawn.
Pricing & billing
Can I get an invoice with our Tax ID / VAT number?
Payments are handled by Creem, our payment provider. After you pay, Creem emails you an electronic receipt with a link to its portal. There you can add your Tax ID / VAT number, company name and address, then download the receipt again as a PDF for your records. Before filing the expense, we suggest checking with your accountant about the rules for software bought from abroad.
How do I pay?
By credit card online, once a year. The plan renews automatically; stop renewal at least 30 days before the renewal date.
Can I get a refund?
If you are not satisfied, you get a full refund within 15 days of payment.
What are the conditions for the founding member discount?
During the discounted year, you agree that we list you as a partner using your brand name and logo, only in the partner section of our homepage (your guide map is not shown). Any other promotional use needs your prior written approval. From year two, you can email us anytime to be removed. If you prefer not to be listed, pay the full US$590 without the discount.
Do prices include tax?
No. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Creem, our payment provider, calculates and adds sales tax at checkout.
How do we cancel?
Stop renewal from the Billing page in your dashboard at least 30 days before the renewal date. The page keeps working until the end of the year you paid for.
Terms & support
If we do not renew, will our printed QR codes stop working?
They will not lead to an error page. After termination, the URL redirects to a website you choose, such as your official website.
What support is included?
Email us at hi@kokodot.com. We reply by email; there is no phone or live support. You can edit your spots and recalibrate yourself at any time.
What happens if Kokodot shuts down?
We will give at least six months' notice.
